The Long Beach Fire Department is honored to recognize
Firefighter Tye Johnson as
the Heart of a Hero Award Recipient
Firefighter with LBFD since 2004.
Has served as a Firefighter Paramedic for 16 years.
Assisted in the creation of the Tactical Medic Program, a member of the Hazardous Materials Team and was a Drone Pilot.
Currently assigned as Investigator of the Arson Task Force.
Medical Unit Leader on the Federal Incident Management Team within the state as well as the city Type 3 Incident Management Team. In March 2020, activated the Incident Management Team to assist with the response and managment of Covid-19 in the City of Long Beach.
Tye and the First Responder Support group worked diligently to test, document, track and organize the care of Fire Department employees who became ill from Covid-19, seeing each one through their recovery and back to full-duty.
However, outside his important duties with the fire department, Tye has worked to support firefighters within the department through Firefighters for Christ. For the past 15 years, Tye has worked to organize the International Chapter of this organization, which encourages firefighters to live their lives for
Jesus Christ. The Long Beach chapter of this group meets monthly for fellowship and support. Tye has created an app-based prayer chain that allows Long Beach Firefighters to post prayer requests and praises as a means of firefighter support.
Tye Johnson demonstrates a true Heart of a Hero for his continuing dedication to support and uplift fellow firefighters.
